Dr. Pete Lynch has spent over eight years studying and teaching American politics. He earned his PhD in American Politics from the University of Kentucky. Along the way, he won the Outstanding TA Award, one of just 15 given annually to graduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences. After completing his PhD in 2022, he taught for two years at Centre College and one year at EKU before returning to the University of Kentucky as a lecturer in 2025.
Through years of research and teaching, Pete has developed a deep understanding of how the political system often fails everyday Americans: politicians respond primarily to wealthy donors, not the public. This leaves the poor and middle class without a voice, while elites on both sides of the aisle decide the policies that affect all of us.
As an economic populist, Pete is committed to fighting for working families and holding the powerful accountable. He is critical of both major parties when they fail to serve the public interest and has written extensively about corruption and political influence on his Substack. If elected, he will bring that same energy and independent perspective to Congress, putting the needs of Kentucky families first.
